Baby Massage

Gentle loving care

Important information at a glance

Gentle skin contact is vital for babies. Giving your baby a gentle massage is a particularly enjoyable way of maintaining close contact, showing your love, and making them feel safe and protected.

Regular baby massage

  • Promotes the development of nerve cells and motor skills
  • Has a relaxing and calming effect
  • Can strengthen the emotional bond with the mother and father

Our tips

  • Ensure that the massage room is warm and cosy.
  • Avoid time pressure or stress as your nervousness can be transferred to the baby.
  • Lay your baby on a soft baby blanket or soft towel.
  • Choose the right time and make sure the conditions are favourable for a massage, bearing in mind that even regular massages do not have to take place at the same time every day. For their massage, the baby should be awake and not too tired. Also, you should avoid massaging your baby immediately after feeding them or if they are ill.
  • Make sure that your hands are warm, your fingernails smooth, and remove any jewellery that might get in the way.

Not the right time for a massage?

As much as they might enjoy it, they are not always in the mood for a massage. This is why you should first find out what mood your baby is in. If your little one is kicking excitedly, then it is probably not the right time for a massage. If they cry during the massage, try to soothe them and then try again. If your little one is still restless, postpone the massage until another time.
